Carrbridge Golf Course
Scotland - Home of Golf
One of the oldest and most influential golf organisations was formed in 1754 at St Andrews, Fife. It is 125 miles from here but we actually have had golfers making a day trip there. Mary, Queen of Scots was the first recorded lady golfer in 1567 at Edinburgh and St Andrews.
Herewith a few tips to aid your golfing holiday planning. The proprietor who writes these pages is not a golfer and is therefore not in a particularly good position to assist but we have had many golfers staying over the years here and I am fairly well aware of what they say and think.
Most of our golfing guests are familiar with courses in our area and any good golfing hand book such as SCOTLAND HOME OF GOLF or THE GOLF GUIDE will give you all the information and directions you require. Try www.amazon.co.uk or www.amazon.com in the USA and you will get all the books you need. You will probably find that most, if not all, courses have their own Websites these days. Books and indeed Websites are usually full of Hotel adverts. You will find us in a few of them although we do not advertise a lot.
Try www.golfhighland.com and click on Course Map. It gives details of most if not all Highland golf courses. Several pointers are given below for your general guidance.
Carrbridge 9 hole course is
directly opposite the Hotel. A lot of our guests rise early and
have a round before breakfast. You will likely have the course to
yourself. More challenging 18 hole courses may be found within a
few miles locally at Grantown on Spey, Boat of Garten, Nairn,
Inverness and Kingussie to name a few. Royal Dornoch is an hour
and a half drive away as is the Carnegie Links at Skibo Castle.
Most of the year it should be possible to "walk on" certain courses but if in doubt or for high season weekends you would be advised to arrange tee-off times yourself with the course particularly if you are a larger group. The possibility of a Club function always exists. Golf clubs can be hired locally.
Green fees in the Highlands are considered reasonable (Typically £15 to £30, Dornoch £50, Skibo £60) but we do not offer inclusive terms since this would be too restrictive for you. Why get stuck with a fixed itinerary when you can be flexible. The course fees are only added to your accommodation quote in any event.
Accommodation costs are per Tariff or Specials links for the Lodge Hotel or The Coach House. We can arrange local mini-bus hire for you if required and your group is large enough, say 6 or over.
